内容提要 | 现有研究发现,媒体报道偏差是一个比较普遍的现象,那么我国的媒体报道偏差是否存在?本文通过手工搜集和整理2000-2012年中国上市公司的媒体报道数据,提出并检验了有关媒体报道倾向的“产权偏好假说”、“迎合读者假说”、“受限报道假说”和“迎合广告商假说”等。实证结果发现,整体上我国确实存在媒体报道偏差;在同等条件下,媒体倾向于正面报道国有企业以及组织结构复杂和广告投入多的企业。进一步的研究发现,市场化有助于解决媒体报道的“产权偏好”问题。本文的研究充分考虑了我国当前的制度背景,对于转型国家的媒体治理也具有一定的现实启示。 |
Abstract | The existing literatures find that media coverage bias is a common phenomenon. Does media coverage bias exist in China? Based on manually collecting media coverage data of listed companies in China from 2000 to 2012, this paper proposes and then tests the Property Preference Hypothesis, Catering Hypothesis, Constrained Reporting Hypothesis and Advertising Hypothesis in media coverage. The empirical results show that media coverage bias does exist in China overall. Under the same conditions, the media tends to positively cover the state-owned enterprises, and the enterprises with more complex organizational structure and more advertising expenditure. We also find that marketization is helpful to solve the Property Preference problem in media coverage. Taking of the background of the media system of China, this paper has some realistic significance to the study of media governance in transition economies. |
