AbstractThis paper examines the impact of self-reported health status of mobile worker from the perspective of flowing destination by fixed-effect Logit model. The dataset used in this study composed of 16 provinces and the time spanned 2003 to 2007 collected by the Ministry of Agriculture of China. The flowing destination was divided by the distance of administrative district, the difference between urban and rural area, and the dimension which crossed by the form two standards. After the effects of selection was eliminated, the results of fixed-effect Logit model show that the health was significantly negative impacted if one works outside the original province. However, the health was not significantly influenced by mobilization if one flowing intra-province. It is increasingly prominent that the health of flowing worker negatively impacted by region segmentation. The health of flowing worker influenced by mobilization exist difference between male and female. The health of male mobile worker was negatively impacted if one flowing to the rural area outside the original province. And the health of female mobile worker was negatively influenced if one works at the urban area outside the original province. These results implied some strong policy recommendation. The region segmentation should be abolished as soon as possible and unified national labor market should be established. The overall level should be improved in the social insurance system especially in the medical insurance. The procedure of social insurance including medical insurance system should be transferred between different regions. The Medical Insurance for Urban Residents should be combined with the New Rural Cooperative Medical Scheme.
