AbstractThe paper investigates the influences of spatial agglomeration on large cities' export. Heterogeneous firms agglomeration externalities increase large cities' competition and selection effect and decrease industrial fixed entry, fixed and variable exporting costs. This paper's investigate the composition effects of firm-level agglomeration and city externalities on firms' exporting possibilities and sales. Empirical results based on data from Annual Survey of Industrial Firms (ASIF) between 1998 and 2007 verifies our prediction that only localization economy exerts a positive while the other economies have a negative influence on firms' exporting behaviors.
