AbstractThis paper introduces resources and environment factors into productivity system in the service industry, employs Malmquist-Luenberger productivity index which takes account of the growth of “good” output and the reduction of “bad” output at the same time to estimate sub-sector total factor productivity(TFP)in the service industry from 2004 to 2014, and does a comparative analysis based on Malmquist productivity index. On this basis, controlling the international and domestic factors influencing environmental TFP in the service industry, we investigate the effects of imports and exports on the environmental TFP in the service industry from the perspective of the entire industry and sub-divided industries. The result shows that the TFP growth in the service industry in China manifests strong heterogeneous pattern and ignoring the resources and environment factors overestimates the growth performance of the service industry. Imports significantly facilitates the environmental TFP in the entire service industry and newly-emerged service industry; while exports significantly promotes the environmental TFP level of the entire service industry and traditional service industry. What’s more, the impacts of IFDI,OFDI in service industry, the development level of service industry, domestic R&D, public environmental awareness, endowments structure and environmental regulation on the environmental TFP in the entire service industry and sub-divided service industries also exist obvious heterogeneity.
